***Job Description***

You will work as an Independent Contractor.  All Company Income is reported to the IRS and filed.  It will be the responsibility of the Contractor to file their own taxes using form 1099.  Pay varies by experience, resume, and portfolios.  No need to work in the office. Web Designers are responsible for the layout & visual appearance of a website. Web Developers are responsible for the usability and functionality of a website. This role may overlap with that of a Multimedia programmer and web architect. Using a combination of graphic design skills and technical knowledge of how web pages are created, the work involves:

  • liaising closely with a customer or client at the design stage to answer questions such as: why is the site needed? who is the target audience? who are the leading competitors? etc;
  • producing a design that will be attractive to the target user, has a logical navigation system and has all the features required;
  • writing web pages in a combination of codes, such as hypertext mark-up language (HTML), Javascript, Actionscript, ColdFusion, Java, Perl and Flash, or using code-generating programs, such as Dreamweaver;
  • deciding on how images and other material will be digitally optimized and presented for the web;
  • ensuring that material on the web site is accessible to all groups including those with disabilities;
  • testing the site for functionality in different browsers and at different resolutions;
  • fixing errors.

Web designers will have knowledge of graphic design packages such as Fireworks or Photoshop in order to produce basic layout and manipulate images. Skills in cascading style sheets (CSS), e-commerce and server side technologies, such as PHP and Perl, and internet security are also important.

The Contractor must:

  • Not be difficult to contact by phone. (Everything can be handled electronically, by mail, phone or even meetings; however, this cannot take place if the Contractor never answers their phone)

  • Complete all projects by the deadline.   (A Scope of Work will be submitted with each project. Contractor may work at own pace and hours, and without micro-managing, but it is Your duty to notify the Company of anything needed or any problems that may arise. NOTE: The deadlines given INCLUDE the time necessary for revisions, spell-checks, and changes necessary after revision by the Project Supervisor)

  • Adhere to rules, regulations, terms, conditions, contracts and standard procedures of the company.  This includes but is not limited to the basic concepts and designs incorporated into the formats for our websites.

    Please note:  All relations are contractual.  An application packet must be completed with all forms (including a W-9 for tax purposes only & DMV & GCIC Reoprts if necessary) and review an Independent Contractor's Contract before actual hire.
